Sounds like a lovely vacation! Cruises have never really appealed to me before, but yours sounds like a nice one. Welcome home (again).

Yay for souvenir yarn!! I am always disappointed that I don't find any in Florida, so I know what a nice find that was for you. (Okay, I will confess, I found an actual yarn shop in Naples, Florida, but it was so crowded that I didn't stick around long enough to buy anything.) Reading your post makes me want to be on a cruise right now.

Elizabeth Bishop was inspired by those Key West roosters to write her anti-war poem entitled, well....
"Roosters"
Here's a bit:
making sallies
from all the muddy alleys,
marking out maps like Rand McNally's:
glass-headed pins,
oil-golds and copper greens,
anthracite blues, alizarins,
each one an active
displacement in perspective;
each screaming, "This is where I live!"
They are great looking things, aren't they. Do you make a point of visiting the poultry barn at the State Fair? Highly recommended!
