A far worse report than from others, who said the problem was a small group of people -- although another blog reported that the firefighters were not treated well by some on the AFP side but also treated as part of the larger group of all public employees told to go back to work.

All in all, reading all these reports is an interesting exercise, with so many different takes on the same event.

I did see the pictures from the event and noticed a number of Correctional Officers there in uniform, this is a work rule violation for them. Although so was calling in sick and then attending the rally!

It's a constant up-hill battle, and then you'll have to go demonstrate again. Glad you all have the energy for that. $\"\"$

I think it's all so out of line that no individual or group has any control over taxes anymore, and the laws have been written so the guvament can do what it wants (by all those lawyers). If they don't call it \"taxes\" they will just simply tack on all sorts of \"fees\" and \"fines\" and mine your pockets that way.

That's what the continued growth of government does. It becomes a law unto itself with rules that can't be controlled by the people, and the more government employees there are, the more say they will have in the matter. It's a simple game of numbers and pressures, and an unwieldy huge system that keeps growing.

Being a former single mom with a deadbeat ex - I know how hard it is to make ends meet when trying to work and pay for childcare, so in that regard I think it is a very helpful program in helping get people on their feet again.

But what's happening in Racine county due to lack of proper monitoring is that people are collecting very nice salaries, some over $100,000 a year(!), for watching their grandkids/nieces/nephews, etc. To make things worse, proof of the parent actually working is not being checked, and there are people collecting big fat checks for sitting at home doing absolutely nothing. There does not seem to be any requirements for a person to become a daycare provider - anything goes.

Apparently there used to be people who worked for the county that monitored the eligibility of people receiving aid, but those positions I've been told, were eliminated and it's now outsourced. The monitoring of the programs since that time has grown extremely lax.

I don't necessarily mind taxes when I can see a positive result from my tax dollars. But it is very frustrating to see tax dollars being thrown away and helping those people who just don't want to work and are taking advantage of the system.

I would like to see the County (Yes you Mac..) add the positions back to the budget to do the monitoring that is necessary to keep these programs in check, because in the long run, we are wasting much more money by allowing abuse of these programs.
