So, before "Scott" and some of the other regular lefties ...
First, I believe blogging to be more about immediacy than about polish. People who make a fuss about grammar and spelling on blogs are petty and have a fundamental misunderstanding about what the medium is.
Second... whoa. I don't even know you and you're basically insinuating that I'm going to attack you. Rest assured that if and when I criticize you it will be in the most thoughtful, fair and respectful way possible.
I find it exasperating that I am accused of bad behavior regularly here while I very well may be the target of the most egregious abuse rather than the perpetrator.

Cathy,
While I understand your comments and agree with almost everything you posted in your blog, let me tell you that every single day I serve in Madison, I wish you were still my State Senator.
The actions of the ultra-liberals in the State Senate like John Lehman really have the potential to ruin our state and we have to all take steps to insure that their goofy ideas never see the light of day...
That's why it is so imperative that folks help out during the election cycle by blogging, talking to their friends and neighbors, going door-to-door and supporting conservatives financially. If they don't Lehman's ideas might actually become law - heaven forbid.
Keep up your blogging, even if you have run on sentences.

Cathy's back! Well, blogging at least...better than nothing ;^)
Anxious to read your posts, and I'm guessing the Dems running (ruining) this state will provide plenty of fodder.
And of course I echo Robin's sentiments..."I wish you were still my State Senator!"

Wow, you guys are pretty generous around here. Am I to assume you're giving me a lot of latitude because it's my first time?
Seriously, though, thanks so much.
Scott: I feel as if we do know each other. I think of you as the faceless embodiment of the leftie hate mail I got over my 4 years in the Senate. Much of it was good for bending-over-belly-laughs. (Nothing personal, and thanks for the welcome!)
Robin Vos: You're the greatest, my friend. While I certainly miss talking to you as often as we used to; to say I miss being your Senator would be taking it too far! I did notice your gentlemanly way of saying you agree with "almost everything" in my post! Too funny.
To Mark at Americans for Prosperity: You guys rock, man.
Thanks to all you guys!

I think of you as the faceless embodiment of the leftie hate mail I got over my 4 years in the Senate.
Excuse me? What did I ever do or say to merit this kind of comparison? Things get heated around here, that's for sure, but I think I maintain my composure better than most. Just because I may disagree with you, Kathy, does not mean I am the equivalent of some nut who sends "hate mail."
We've never before exchanged a single word of correspondence, Kathy. It's sad that we have to start out this way.
Let me not go on being "faceless" - here I am, face and all. Pleased to meet you.

Scott, my humble apologies for some humor that didn't go over so well--certainly not a first for me.
After viewing your photos, I have to give you credit for being a cool guy in at least one respect: You're into Tae Kwon Do.
My little guy just started over the last couple of months and got his first set of PADDED nunchakus (eBay, of course). It's really becoming his gig.
So, any friend of the martial arts is a friend of mine. (Now, taking photos of yourself in the men's room mirror may leave the door open to future humorous darts....fair game, you know.)
Have a great day, Scott.

Hi Cathy, and welcome.
I will certainly be interested to hear what you have to say on the issues of the day. I enjoy discourse with rational political thinkers. From this recall post I can see that you view the system dispassionately and understand and respect the structure of the law. That's refreshing.
Thanks, by the way, for making it clear right up front what you think of people on the other end of the political spectrum. For the record some of us find a lot of what we read here from the right-leaning posters "bending over bellylaugh"-worthy too. Some of us think what's happened to this nation of late at the hands of the right is just plain being bent over and "driven" home.
And as for you Mr. Vos -- you are, of course, also welcome but be aware that you haven't always been treated well on this blog yourself, and the abuse did NOT come from the likes of me or Scott. You might want to pull a few of the rightie knives out of your back before you sit down here with the rest of us.
cheers.

Debra, for what it's worth, I too have found much of what my "rightie" colleagues and friends have said sometimes bend-over-belly-laughable. Trust me, there are many of us--I'm sure on both sides of the spectrum--who are sometimes embarassed by our own.
That certainly doesn't exclude me from the bunch, either. I'm sure I've been laughed at plenty myself.
At least I can laugh along, anyway!
To Mr. Pelican Pants: hmmm, the chicken thing must be a blogger insider kinda joke? I admit I'm not a junkie on the blogs, so if there's a hidden meaning, I ain't a-gettin' it. (While we're talking about hidden meanings, I don't even wanna know where "Pelican Pants" came from!)

As a Californian, I am happy to read about your attitude regarding recalls. The 2003 governor recall hasn't been the only one in California in recent years, and they should never be used (as ours have been) as a do-over election for the losing side.

So sorry CA Pol, but that recall was a necessity before the State of California went completely bankrupt. It was done for fiscal reasons, NOT political reasons. Too bad we didn't vote the right man in after that, although The Terminator has done better than I ever thought he would.

Welcome Cathy,
If you think back to the last election, we never met, but I was the volunteer that put the yard signs infront of your house. Welcome to the online world. Mr. Vos - Thank you for the info regarding Wisconsin's sex offender law. I am trying to get Sturtevant to consider a law limiting offender releases.
I am one of the ones who are pushing for a Lehmann recall. Cathy, thank you for your opinion, but I feel that any elected official is subject to a review of his constituents, and not just every election cycle. Lehmann has really pissed a lot of us off, and we want him to address his votes, and be accountable. We want to wake him up to the fact that he needs to address concerns from all of us, not just his lib friends and Diamond Jim.
Any Chance of you running again Cathy?
Fred, I have a couple of questions for you. Might I email you privately?

Regarding RWW's comment of: "I feel that any elected official is subject to a review of his constituents,"
Absolutely! Just because the voters hired this person does not mean he/she now has free reign. It means they can also be fired, and if there are enough signatures for a recall, that means passions are running pretty high about firing the elected official. Any employee in any company already knows that. So should our elected officials.

RWW: I remember you! You're right about the reviewing of the performance of your elected officials. I just wanted to make the point that, if we're honest about it, John Lehman isn't doing anything he hasn't done for the last decade under the dome.
He's voted against giving minority kids in Racine the same opportunities for a good education as Milwaukee's kids have, he's voted for higher taxes at every turn, he's voted against keeping good paying jobs in Racine by requiring more taxes, penalties and paperwork on the employers.
Is that the same as what Chvala or Gary George did? No. Chvala threatened and extorted contributions for legislation and George lined his own pockets in exchange for favorable legislation. And McGee--good Lord I don't even need to go there.
It's my humble opinion that these are the guys who SHOULD have been recalled--yet weren't.
The beauty of this country (and our state's recall laws) is that you are free to disagree and proceed as you wish. I'm not gonna throw myself under this bus to get in your way.
To Schneider: Great to hear from you man! I hope the wife and kids are fabulous! To you readers: Schneider was one of the people during my campaign who worked tirelessly to keep me focused, and--most importantly--always kept me laughing. A brilliant young man with a love of Spongebob, sunflower seeds, and the conservative movement!
Anyhow, no more gushing. I'm getting ready to blog on Lehman's new propaganda on the "heartless" GOP budget. Where to begin.......

Not you Freddo, but other posters.
I keenly remember being in the position of defending Mr. Vos in his role as public official on this very blog. It was not long after Robin had come in and spoken to my Citizenship class around Repub convention time.
Snarkypants posters then were claiming that Robin was no real Republican and making some other very unflattering comments in that vein.
I was the one defending him, if you'll recall, from the slings and arrows and knives in the back from those rightie critics.
Pretty short memory, there Fred. That could explain some of the positions you take politically.....(oh stop it now, I'm just ribbing you a little...)
