I wish I would have heard this live - I would have lost it.
So, my birthday is not only the day John Lennon was shot, but also Jim Morrison's birthday - I'm doomed!

He needs better drugs.
On Lennon, he was killed 27 yrs ago. 12/8/1980 - present
The last refinery was built in 1976. Lets' build 2 to 3 more of those things. Lets just go out and get the oil. Not because of gas prices, simply, I do not want our econony to held hostage by any outside entity. ( However I drive 300 miles a week) Its getting expensive.
After reading that, I wonder if he believes that there was a government conspiracy for every event. Including the OJ trial.

and he was really right when he said he was a typical liberal.
Another Rush attempt to pile on divisiveness to boost his own ratings despite the harm it does to the country. Clearly that caller was a wacko.

Ahh, The Drug-Addict Rush Limbaugh gets all kinds of whacko callers. Some of them don't believe in evolution. Some of them don't believe that man's actions affect the climate.
This caller is just one more nut in the Goodbar.

So, if you don't believe in evolution but believe in creationism and global warming, you equating us with this buffon, grumps. Rush may be off his drugs, but grumps, your mind is pretty drug addled.

You know, conservatives have their own wacky conspiracy theories too.
Like, for instance, scientists conspiring to drive god out of schools. That's a good one.
Careful about hucking those stones around. You might hit someone you like.

So much for second chances and compassion from the left...

No, Fred. I'm not. The Rushmeister is a hack and deserves what he gets. He's never had to face a reckoning for an offense that's landed thousands in prison.
Dan, go back and reread. You lost the thread about halfway through. Thanks for the gratuitous personal slam, though. I was beginning to think you'd lost your tawdry little touch.

I wouldn't quite call grumps posts hate. Of course, if there is an appropriate thread for hating for one's political opinions it is one on Rush - a top notch hatemonger.

It's always amazing to me how liberals want to let all drug addicts out of prison for supposed "non-violent" offenses----but Rush Limbaugh admits he has an addiction and they want him locked away FOREVER.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrat.
(P.S.: note how mr. paul noonan didn't capitalize "God" when he referred to Him? Well, I just returned the favor.)

Cathy, I'm just looking for a little "either-or."
Limbaugh could be a little contrite and ask for compassion for his fellow fallen or he can go gaily forward being a "throw the book at 'em" hard-boiled mandatory-sentence advocate.
He needs to acknowledge his own failings as a human being while beating that family values drum and admit that he's no kind of role model.
A little humility and a little compassion for his fellow man would get Limbaugh a lot more slack. You should probably check that definition of hypocrisy. I'm not sure you've got it nailed yet.

So Grumps and Foust are upset that Rush doesn't get locked up when he was arrested with the pills in Florida. While THOUSANDS of people have been imprisoned for the same offense.
I will bet you that the people sitting in prison because of "Drug offenses" have one thing that Rush didn't have. Wait for it....RAP SHEETS!

I really don't think that it is much of a shocker that an upper class white guy busted for abusing prescription medicine doesn't get jail time. Not too much of a menace to society there so I'm not too worked up. Now his divisive, mocking approach to politics, that is a menance to society.

Grumps says: "He needs to acknowledge his own failings as a human being while beating that family values drum and admit that he's no kind of role model."
He did nothing more than thousands of people do who have chronic pain and get addicted to prescription drugs. Hey, I type the reports all the time, and so far none of them have been arrested either, unless they have a rap sheet for selling drugs.
So let's not make such a big deal out of Rush's prescription drug addiction. It is no worse than a whole lot of other people with chronic pain who often get addicted through no fault of their own.
I may be defending the man, but I never listen to him. I don't care for his bombastic ego, although the few times I have heard him I think he's more amusing than anything else and can't be taken too terribly seriously.

The problem Rose, is that too many people do take him too seriously. I have known a few. One was young (high school), most were just fools of one sort or another. I also think his impact on other shows has been bad.
I suspect that Rush's worst penalty for the painkillers was the pain of the addiction itself.

ScottH, I do agree that all too often the line between "news" and "entertainment" gets awfully blurry, and I also agree that is bad for the country. On the other hand, in a country where free speech is almost a holy writ, I'm not really sure what we can do about it. And personally, I don't think Rush is any worse than the regular network news where popularity, silly banter and good looks count for far more than the way the news is presented.
But I guess that's what you get when a population needs constant sources of new entertainment and takes nothing very seriously.
And I have heard Rush be very funny at times. On the other hand, I was totally turned off to him when he criticized Chelsea(sp) Clinton on her looks while she was still in her vulnerable teens. There was NO EXCUSE for that on a national radio show. I skipped over him on my radio dial from that day on.
