Most things China claims are warped and bizarre. They like to justify their inhumanitarian actions. It's a typical communist ploy, as seen from their warped perspective.

roseindigo, I know its typical for the Chi-coms to try to justify their inhumanitarian actions. But this statement just hit me as absolutely absurd.
The phenomonon of political language is interesting, isn't it? - the way it can be twisted and contorted, AND the way some people swallow the strange brew of words, and believe the oddest things.

The Chinese have very little grasp of either our history or what being Abraham Lincoln meant, or for that matter what the word "freedom" means. And this little example shows exactly how lacking in the concepts they are. It reminded me of some of the instructions on how to put something together for an item made in China. It's actually funny, but anyone who follows those instructions has got to be nuts or retarded.

roseindigo, you're right. The meaning of "freedom" may be something entirely different to the Chinese, when their basic assumptions are so different from ours. Once again, we get down to how words are used, and what's behind them. Fascinating!

BTW, roseindigo, I found an Ayn Rand article from 1946 that defines the differences in broad strokes the differences between individualism and collectivism, and what it all means. Posted a few of her quotes at my site (too long to put here)
