Gravatar Thanks for the linkage! I'm very tempted to try the 2% formula, I've had blackheads on my nose since 7th grade. Eww.

Gravatar Gross skin question:

Will this help if (for example) one has few-to-no blackheads, but gets a few of those REALLY hurty big deep red pimples about once a month?

Not that I'm the person in the example or anything. Nope.

Gravatar I can't believe you don't have blackheads! That's just so unfair!

Goddamn you must take good care of yourself!

Gravatar BHA will, indeed, help pimples but not the same way it will blackheads. Blackheads are caused by pore blockage alone. Pimples are caused by bacteria. No joke, I started getting random Big Zit every once in a while (so not acceptable) and started using Oxy Balance Vanishing for Sensitive Skin every nite as a preventative measure. (Did I leave that out of my comment skin care regimen? Lordy, there's a lot to remember!) That shiznit works wonders. But you've got to be willing to use it preventatively every night...Once you get 'em, they're harder to banish...

And don't worry--I may not have blackheads, but my pores are still too big for my own taste. Oh to have that flawless porcelain skin!

Gravatar Fantastic - I actually got the Paula's Choice 1% Gel last month, but I'm having a little difficulty with order of operations. Right now, I use SPF 30 mosturizer all over my face by day, and retin A, thinned with a little moisturizer over most of my face by night. When and in what order should the salycic action be worked in on the action?

Thanks!
Demery

Gravatar wow, I've been using SPF 15...perhaps me needs to rethink the SPF...

The only thing I can think of that might help complexion product wise? Dr. Hauschka's Normalizing Day Oil for those with oily skin. It sounds crazy, but the most natural, glow for the evening...my word.

Gravatar I couldn't find Paula's Choice products ANYwhere but I did find a Clean 'n' Clear toner (actually, a designated blackhead toner/cleanser) with salicylic acid and while so far it's not magically made any blackheads disappear, it does make my skin feel fantabulous!

Gravatar OK! Demery--you should be using the BHA gel first and letting it dry before applying sunscreen.

Madgirl--SPF 15 is just fine and all you need. You can use 30 if you want, or if you're in strong sun all the time, but the difference between SPF 15 and SPF 30 isn't actually that much.

And Bug--you can only order Paula's Choice online. Does the Clean n Clear tell you what concentration salicylic acid it uses? A toner should work better than a cleanser/scrub. And it will take time with the blackheads. Give it 2 weeks to a month, and if you're not seeing results, you might need a higher concentration.
