I am a huge fan of using the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer which has an SPF of 20. It makes your skin look so clean and prepped plus since it is a 2-in-1 product, it totally justifies the cost (like $45 for a not-very-big tube)

What about Philosophy's When Hope Is Not Enough with SPF? I swear I saw that in the Union Square Sephora recently... I thought for sure Real Girl would love that!

Really? You guys care this little about sunscreen even tho it's the most important part of a beauty regimen?
Ok. Next post it's back to glamour.

I guess we're all thinking the SPF contained in our daily moisturizers is plenty for winter, since most of us probably hibernate through the season anyway.
I'm so incredibly pasty white from October to May, it's obvious that this face is getting no sun exposure whatsoever.
So sad.
Did the groundhog see his shadow, or what?

I'm in love (luuuuurve!) with Peter Thomas Roth Max All Day Moisture Defense Cream with SPF30. Amazing. Not heavy like most moisturizers with spf. Light, absorbs into skin quickly, and doesn't make me feel like I have heavy cream on my face. And I live in the humidity-thick South (Atlanta.) I have slightly oily skin, and this pretty much does the trick. To combat its bare white-potential, I mix it liberally with Aveda's tinted moisturizer (SPF15), so I'm probably getting a little less than SPF30, but am okay with that.

Wait. What?! Does this mean we're moving on from Clinique's Superdefense? man. Ok. I'm on board the new-sunblock-train. Mostly because I've been mixing my foundation with the superdefense every day to create my own tinted SPF moisturizer, and it's getting really old. So, if you're still taking requests, I would like our new SPF moisturizer to come in a pump format. jar spf moisurizer gets under my nails. blech. Is Peter Thomas Roth pump-y? Because he sounds kind of nice! Or maybe I will go with Ms. Mercier, because she comes pre-tinted and a tube, while not a pump, is much better than a jar! (Plus, her concealer is as good as the hype.)

I recently started using Neutrogena's "age shield sunblock" spf 30 because it has some new powerful sunscreen element and I really like it, not greasy, not chalky and anything that "blocks age" is okay with me. I've been combining it with Awake's vitamin C powder and so far it's a fab combo. I think because the Neutrogena isn't obscenely expensive I have no problem slathering it on.
Good luck in your search!

Yes, PTR is in pump-form, making it very easy to keep out from under nail-beds (trust me on that, I feel your pain - I have the same problem with my concealer). I'm just really picky when it comes to how "tinted" tinted-moisturizer gets, which is why I choose to mix my own.

Has anyone tried Dermalogica's Sheer Moisture SPF 15? I have been a longtime DDF user... I used it all, salicylic cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and mattifying sunscreen DAILY. For the past several months though, DDF just hasn't been giving me the results I wanted (oily skin, acne breakouts, etc.) I recently switched my cleanser-toner-moisturizer to Dermalogica and have been SO DAMN HAPPY. Just curious if anyone has tried their line of sunscreens.

question: i was always told not to mix SPF products b/c rather than increasing your protection, the opposite happened... i have no idea why that would be true, is it just an urban myth?

true! the ingredients can work to degrade each other when combined inappropriately, so it's best not to mix 'n match les sunscreens.

I would love to hear your take on Aveda's sunscreen, Dual Nature, and their Tourmaline charged moisterizer with spf 15.
I like the Dual Nature w/ my Revlon tinted moisterizer that has spf 15. I also have a secret crush on my moisterizer that came in a L'Oreal Microdermabrasion Kit w/ spf 15, but as an esthetician I can't use it in good conscience.

I need a high spf physical block due to meds that make me very photosensitive. The kind I like the best is good old Coppertone Spectra 3, spf 50. It doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a kabuki mask, it actually gets absorbed, and it's fairly inexpensive. Best of all, it works--I do not burn with it.

Gonna take off on a trip for the weekend. A leisurely weekend. But the weird thing is, that while I was out search for certain sites that would show me spots to hit on my way to where I am going, I found this interesting site on and you would not believe how distracted I became from my initial purpose. I almost got so carried away, I almost forgot to leave on my trip. Could you believe that? I guess that site was a little more interesting than what I was doing or something reminded me that I was looking for this in the first place. Funny how the mind works.
