Gravatar You look way, way gorg in your new picture. And I'm loving the sound of that palette!

And now, my birthday gift to you: a short story in which you, Real Girl, are the heroine.

I was on your home turf of New York this weekend. Having a delightful time in all the lovely New York places. Saturday afternoon found me and my fella in a wine bar, enjoying the sunset over the rockefeller skating rink. One bottle led to another, and we found ourselves with not enough time to freshen up before meeting some super fabulous friends for dinner. And me with no makeup! (Here is where Real Girl saves the day) I knew there was a Duane Reade around the corner, so I made a beeline, and bought some cheapsie apartment 5 eyeshadows and... FULL N SOFT mascara! Put it on right there in the little magnifying eyeglasses mirror. Insta-glam and ready to go face my friends! Thanks for the tip RG! - next time I'm in New York, perhaps we can get together for a Sephora spree?

Gravatar Neat, VU! But the thanks belongs to the fine ladies who initially recommended the product to me, so I'll pass that along right here!

xx

Gravatar Ah, while the Take Out Kit did not work for me, I am really happy that you're loving it! I will say that the eyeshadows are very nice and I generally like the quality of Hard Candy shadows, so that's nice. I agree with you that the mascara was gross and goopy, but in addition, I found the glosses very drying (and if I'm going to need to wear lip balm under them, it should have been included in the friggin kit!) and I have fairly pigmented lips, so the colors didn't really show up on me. The eyeliner didn't work that well...the point was too fine and the color didn't seem to want to come off on my eye and I ended up tugging and pulling, which as you know is no good for our delicate, wrinkle-prone eye area. The concealers didn't suit my skin tones at all and oxidized on me and while the bronzer gave a nice shimmer, it didn't add any color to my cheeks. I was so sad. However--I am glad that it, at least, worked for someone.

Gravatar I'm addicted to the Too Faced Quickies palettes. Hard core lurrrrve. My fave? Beach Bunny. Which I can't seem to find on Sephora or Too Faced websites. But it has an amazing bronzer/blush, 3 eye shadows (soft bronze, sunny yellow and a perfect dusty pink), and 4 lip glosses that are the most amazingly perfect combination during the summer.
I've been drooling over this kit since I saw it on the website, and I may just have to pick one up. As well as this one, which, since I went back to darker hair (think a slightly softer Rachel Bilson), has been calling my name.

Enjoy!

Gravatar Hi, this is madgirl, you know, the one she's referencing...where is the Pocket Pal I gave you? Did you lose it already?!

Gravatar Real Girl doesn't talk about two completely different products in one post! That's heresy.

Gravatar oohhhh... i am completely suckered by cute packaging. but the only one i've ever found really useful (well, in the quest for sparkly prettiness in all flattering shades) is the urban decay sell out face case - how smart was that, for them to put all those popular shades together with nary a filler?!

though i have to say, the pink hearts wouldn't be my thing. but the too faced palette designs are totally hot.

Gravatar Want one!!! I'm a sucker for palettes.

Gravatar There is only one palette I've been brave enough to try -- Fresh's Memoirs of a Geisha Palette http://www.sephora.com/browse/ pr...categoryId=4348. It is the perfect thing to leave in your desk for those emergencies where you have to make an appearance at a dinner or party but don't have time to go home and freshen up first. It has three items in it: sparkly eye shadow/potential cheek highlighter, pink creamy blush, and my favorite of all favorite glosses, Gloss Absolute in Desire, which I haven't seen sold separately. It doesn't come with mascara, which is a bummer, but it really does light up my face and add a festive pinkness for those party moments when I'm dull and worn out at the end of the day. The compact also has a great big mirror in it, which makes it the perfect palette to go.

Gravatar Congratulations on making the finals on Ultimate Blogger! I was in it last year and it was totally fun! Do your best!

Gravatar This post is right on time!! Today I'm supposed to be getting the Hard Candy Lunch Box, which is pretty similar; and I was yet to hear a review (good or bad), so I was gettin' a little nervous because I'm not familiar with Hard Candy products. Plus, I live in Costa Rica, so trying out this brand at a store is pretty much out of the question.

:sighs in relief: Thanks! You just made my day.
