Your .02

Believe it or not, something very similar happened to my wife and me about 3-4 years ago. Very similar--same aggressive behavior, same kind of back and forth, etc. The young man was most offended that I didn't want to blow $20-50 dollars, on the spot, for some crappy magazines that would never be read. And I live a long ways from New Orleans.

Gravatar Doesn't surprise me. There are plenty of people from (at least formerly, if not currently) oppressed backgrounds who're just paranoid. I've seen it with race, religion, politics: a kind of knee-jerk defensiveness that's really unattractive. Even Warren Beatty was that way with Letterman when Bulworth came out. Pick a side in the abortion debate and you'll see lots of it at a rally.

Gravatar But you and your wife seeing the same thing with a magazine-seller, while statistically anticipated, is still a little creepy.

Gravatar If you haven't seen "Office Space," rent it immediately.

Gravatar Thanks. I've seen it a few times. The first time I saw it, I was shocked that somebody finally made a movie about where I worked--well, sort of...
