i'll just tell you. the aggies realized that the window framing would not hold the weight of the boards. and they couldn't get them into the masonry either. so, they put the boards inside so it would still protect the shop and make the glass easy to clean up.

but snopes is a great sight.

Drat! I didn't think to snopes it. A&M has such a rep as an engineering school, I had wondered if there would be some logical explanation for it:
