I've been so depressed again today. I think I'm done with the Dems for good this time; I've been remembering all the reasons I joined the Green party in the first place. Oh well.

I second Karen's congrats on the Koufax nominations. You do good work, kiddo. I'm glad it’s being recognized. As for Alito - those Vichy Democrats just lost everything for their party. I will no longer trust a single thing the Dem's say anymore - and I will certainly never give them a penny. To hell with 'em. They just sacrificed their wives and daughters in order to attend the office Christmas party.

OK. So, I totally went off on the ones who wouldn't support the filibuster, but when I saw the vote to confirm, I lost it. They had 42 mthrfckng* votes against the man! What is up with that? It only takes 40 to maintain a filibuster. If those 42 didn't think he should be confirmed, why the hell didn't they support the filibuster?

Or, more to the point, did they really think that, after letting the filibuster die, they could somehow earn back a little credit with the lefties by making a ceremonial vote against confirmation? Kinda like that weasel governor in VA with his "Oh, gosh, I sure don't like this homophobic law. But I'm still gonna sign it." Is that the definition of spineless, or what?

Or, as KCB might say, is that the definition of taking your base for granted, or what? Do they really think they can vote so egregiously against us and then stay in our good graces with a pathetic gesture like that?
