We have family photo of me, aged about 1 year, happily crawling down the hole our two big Lab crosses were busy digging. On the beach, fortunately.

If Perrito really is part boxer (and he looks it) he may well be loopy for the rest of his life. I'm not helping, am I? How about long walks with extensive retrieving of sticks?

I agree about the boxer part. They stay puppies all their lives - well - until six, at least! I do sympathize with you. Our Ginger loves to run and jump - on us, usually. We haven't done it yet - but my hubby plans on building an obstacle course in out back yard for her - you know - see-saw, hurdles - like on Animal Planet. She needs a job too, it seems. Good luck with yours. I'd be interested to know how it works out!

Oh, they are SO CUTE.

I love the internet. It helps me form unhealthy attachments to other people's pets.

Naturally, like any obsessive fan/stalker, I have no useful advice to give you. Thanks for the cute doggie shots, though.

Agility is always good, and if you're handy you can build some of your own equipment. You can just set up broomsticks and stuff for jumps.

Last year I adopted a 2 year old chow/aussie/something mix from the pound. If he is not exercised enough, he becomes pushy, and will commence a house takeover (aka bully the cats). He didn't have enough focus for agility. I am not able to run or walk very fast, and therefore couldn't wear him out. That's how I got into dog scootering. It gives them a job and really wears them out. Adds some excitement to your life too.

Not to mention lots of exercise, as long as you scoot too.

You just have to be careful and not go to far and pre-hydrate during the summer here in Texas. A start website is www dot dogscooter dot com. You can run them with bikes and such too.

My brilliant and savvy sister just sent me this the other day:

I am seriously thinking about it for my two dogs - the older one, almost 10 yrs old, is sweet and obedient - the younger, almost 2 years old, wants to RUN and JUMP and BARK and they both would love to have a job.

I think hauling me around might be the answer.

Good luck, RNM!

I just take my overzealous must-run must-play mutt to the dog park and unleash him once we're safely inside the gates. He runs himself silly over the course of two hours and gets all the exercise any dog could ask for -- all in playing with other dogs, to boot! -- and when I bring him home he's pooped enough to pay attention, if not actually listen, to commands like "[lay] down."

And at risk of sounding like an infomercial -- have you got easywalker harnesses for either of them? This little guy was about the best $30 I've ever spent on my mutt; it works so well that I can control him on rollerblades without fear of his pulling me off-balance or into a fence.
