Too cute, Casey. |

Not a wild circle but circle non-the-less. My 15 yr old granddaughter agreed to do snake care for the school snake. Her dad has always been a critter person and brings home things and pictures from his "wild kingdom" (his route in the boonies to care for the oil wells that are his assignment). In other words he has brought home a few garter snakes and the like. The summer snake gets fed a live mouse every two weeks. They went to the shop to pick it up and GD's friend named it on the way home. When snake made short work of the mouse, the friend screamed and GD cried. She is a little dramatic. Her mother caught the whole thing on tape. |

I enjoy reading your blog. I believe your caterpillars are the Bordered Patch (Chlosyne lacinia). Sunflowers are one of their favorites. I've grown lots of sunflowers, but I've never been lucky enough to have these on them. I don't know what the chrysalis looks like. Maybe you could put some in a container and post the pictures. |

Baby house wrens. Garter snakes in the wood pile. Catbirds eating suet. |

One pair blue jays, one pair cardinals, one pair mockingbirds, associated babies. I'm not allowed in my own yard without getting dive-bombed by papa mocker. A surfeit of toads and geckos. |

I'm now picturing the spider strutting around his new abode...too hilarious! |

What's up in our circle of life? Last night one of my Rhode Island Red hens caught a baby sparrow. She and her evil twin dismembered it and ate it while we watched, pretty horrified. I think I'm raising dinosaurs, not chickens. |

Love the photos, wish I had me some sunflowers, too. |
