Yay! Chickens! |
|
Oooh, they are so cute! |
|
Even if they never lay an egg I'd say they earnd their keep with the ant eating. |

Chickens are just so relaxing to watch and listen to. Anything else like insect control, fertilizing, tilling, and of course, eggs is a bonus. Technically you don't want your hens to be broody as that refers to sitting on eggs for hatching. Broody hens don't lay more eggs and I suspect their irritable for all the reasons that potential Moms can be. Your hens will probably start laying in September. Really hot temps can slow down egg laying as well. |

i love your hens! I am living vicariously through you until at least Christmas. |

When my chickens didn't start laying my fil told me to boil potatoe skins, sort of mash them with a potatoe masher and mix it with the chicken mash while hot, let it cool and feed them. They started laying after about 2 days. |
