I am sure that if Texas students were asked this, they would have said that they were from East Texas, and were brother and sister, and they named their kid Bezzlebubba
OK, I also know that if the percent were only 49% knew that they were cities, and it was important enough to ask on the TAKS test, then it would be dropped.
The spelling of the word "receive" was not on the first TAKS test, since over 50% did not know how to spell it, and after a single meeting lasting over 4 hours, it was decided to not place it on the test. I know this since my boss was on that commission, Jon Brumley, back when Ross Perot got the pass or play thing going.
