Very cool, Redneck Mother. This is the kind of traffic I can deal with.

Yee Haw!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

In Colorado they still move cows down the highway.

Picture this - 2 college girls in a forest service truck, no clue what the hell they're doing and with no direction from their boss. Driving down the 666 highway and suddenly surrounded by cattle. With the windows down. Yeah. Did you know cows will lick cars and trucks (the salt from your hands) and if your windows are down, they will lick you. Blech!

Apparently, there are deeply embedded neurons in my brain that fired up when I read "San Antonio Stock Show And Rodeo". Wow, that takes me back to growing up there. We went as a family every year. It was a HUGE deal. Prized 4H pigs and cows on display, daredevil rodeo cowboys and clowns, lots of deep fried food, mud, and rednecks everywhere. My very non-redneck Northern Californian Dad looked forward to it as one of the few occasions where he could don his 10-gallon hat and fancy cowboy boots and play the part of a Texan.

Gsia Girl, that's gross. Brrr!

WOW!!! My uncle is in that trail ride. But I don't know how close it is to the real thing as they have a "potty trailer" that follows 'em around from stop to stop and each evening it is a big party with all the RVs lined up for them to sleep in. One of these day's I'll get around to taking the two weeks off and riding with that bunch. You oughta see if the "Pilgrim Country Opry" is having a show anytime soon while you're in that neck of the woods.

Cool, Mr. S! As far as historical accuracy, eh? You know the cowhands of old probably would have loved to have a potty trailer and RVs for overnight.

Chism is buried in Paris, TX. For a long time, there was not much to mark his grave but I think there is some sort of monument there now. You kind of have to know where it is to find it, though. There is also a statue of Jesus wearing cowboy boots on a headstone in a cemetary there. I am going to make a photo of it next time I'm there.

It would be worth the drive to Paris just to see that. Maybe the next time we're up in Hombre's old stomping grounds...
