My pride and joy? My youngest turns three on Thursday.
Also, we've started something called "square foot" gardening. My husband built the first of our beds last weekend. I'm excited to grow our own veggies and herbs!

Here's a simple, almost healthy cake recipe. It's even vegan! If you want a snappy good time, don't warn people that it's not chocolate before they take a bite. The faces are priceless.
I expanded the descriptions in the recipe for my sister's sake. She's not much for cooking from scratch.
Shoo Fly Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In bowl #1 (medium or large) mix
2-1/2 cups of boiling water,
1 cup of molasses, and
1 Tablespoon of baking SODA.
This will froth up when the soda hits the molasses, so be sure there is room in the bowl.
In bowl #2 (large bowl) mix
4 cups of flour,
1 lb dark brown sugar,
½ teaspoon salt, and
¾ cup cooking oil.
Use your hands to mix this up until crumbly. Reserve one cup of crumbs in a (smaller) bowl for topping (I probably reserve more than a cup because I grab a couple of large handfuls).
Mix together the contents of bowl #1 and bowl #2 so the final mix is fairly smooth. Pour the batter into an ungreased (why I really love this recipe!) 13x9 in^2 (sheet cake) pan. Top with the reserved crumbs. Bake for ~45 minutes at 350F.

Oooh, ooh! Square-foot gardening! Go, Mrs Davis. It's an awesome method, especially for small spaces. I hope you'll post pics when your harvest comes in. And Happy Birthday to your little one!
Kabbage, thanks much for the recipe. I'm strangely obsessed with molasses as a baking ingredient so this is perfect.
Jackie, I'll bet the bluebonnets will be there before you know it. And I know exactly where West is. Not only have we played at a park there and eaten many a snack at the Czech Stop, but we were once hit by a truck there. Despite that last thing, I have very fond feelings for West.

Well, I've got these really amazing neighbors, who have great kids, awe me with their talents on so many levels, and invite us to their clean and welcoming home for the most wonderful pizza and tabouleh.
i can only hope that we made a halfway decent impression, because we like them an awful lot

Well, our neighbors can knock down a huge tree just by thinking about it, so we want to stay on their good side!

I finally have my own blog again - okay, so it's shared with a couple of others - and I linked to you and wanted you to know who kept doing that linking to you. It's me!
I'm glad to have my own place again so I can keep up with you and a few others.
