Yes, there in lies the rub. Fearlessness is some freaky shit. May the force be with you. |
The tricky part is encouraging the adventurousness, while also teaching some basic commonsense. |
Oh, yes. I understand this completely. My younger daughter is completely fearless, and it is terrifying. |
Yeah, fearlessness and common sense aren't always mutually exclusive, but it often seems that way. Like today, when Hurricanehead got a nose and mouth full of dirt and blood by diving face-first off a swing. After ten minutes of agony and cleanup, he was right back out there riding the swing on his belly again. Oy. |

Ohgod. I had one of those. Teen Demon had to be moved from crib to bed at 10 months, after she was found sitting in the top drawer of the dresser next to the crib. She jumped into a pool at 2 without knowing how to swim. She tried to break up "boy fights" in kindergarten. She bossed draft horses at 9. Child has scared the crap out of me her whole life. She's still alive, and heading for college in the fall. Her latest plan is to start a moped gang on campus. Yes, my hair is going grey. |
A moped gang? For some reason that sounds more "Hello Kitty" than "Easy Rider," but whatever it is, I'm sure Teen Demon will be more than able to handle it. |
