Pretty, Pretty.
I sometime hate that I live at the start of the Hill Country and have to ship my soil to my property. Even some Texas natives will not grow on limestone.

JoVE, I'd be excited about tulips, too. They don't grow well here and I think they're gorgeous.
Txrad, you're not alone. My stuff grows in "imported" soil, too. We've got heavy clay over caliche -- hard to dig and can take days to drain. I do a lot of amending with compost, sand, etc.
