It's trippy to hear snapping shrimp under water- it sounds exactly like the audio on the video link you posted. I've been scuba diving and snorkeling in shallow coastal areas and you hear this general din of crackling and popping. Most people chalk it up to ocean "background" noise and never realize it is actually the snapping shrimp making all of that racket.
I'm going to be dreaming about these underwater bastards tonight...I just know it.
Chelsea, I really thought they'd exaggerated the audio for that segment. Knowing they really sound that way makes their shrimpy talents even more impressive.
It IS impressive. Although, they did exaggerate part of the audio- the part where it sounds like they are cocking a pistol and shooting. But the main "pop pop pop" noise is JUST like that! Like a bunch of crustacean beatniks snapping in unison at a poetry reading.
