Wow, that looks like it was a fabulous road trip. Great driving, great art. I'd love to find a little of that around here.

Neat-o burrito! We've been wanting to go to Marfa to see the Marfa Lights. Did you see them? It actually would have been a good side trip for me on the way back from Roswell, but I opted to go the northern route instead. Besides, it's Big Daddy that really wants to see them and he wasn't with me!

Sounds like you all had a very interesting little trip! I love roadtrips, even with my crabby preschooler!

I love how you tell stories!

Did you stop by Monahans on the way for a little dune-surfing? I've lived in Texas all my life, and never knew we had mountains until I moved to Midland. In fact, I thought someone was trying to pull my leg, and actually called ahead to the lodge before we took our kids there, to make sure the mountains were for real!

Fascinating! And beautiful pictures.

The CCC also built the Boy Scout camp where I grew up. Log cabins, lodges, a concrete dam in the creek. Great place to be a kid!

Always give it a go - we did a trip to the US to go to New York and we decided at the last minute to go to Washington DC - am so glad we did hands down one of the best places we have ever been- even beat NY! In aus we have an ad that says "you will never never know if you never never go" so true!

Pretty cool.

I've eaten at Isaacs. Breakfast are excellent.

As for Little Mama wanting to know about the Marfa lights: they stand out better if you get likkered up first.

Thanks for the great post. Funny how things aren't always what we expect; sometimes they're so much better. Your pictures are wonderful, by the way.
