Your response to an anti-Evolutionists letter is very thought-provoking. This attempt to rewrite the history of the Holocaust and the events that preceded it is, in its own way, a dishonor to the six million Jews during the Holocaust.
It is a common anti-evolutionary argument, an appeal to horrifying consequences. Darwinian theory *must* be wrong because Nazis used scientific language. It seems that, at the end of the day, the Creationist movement has become so morally bankrupt that it is quite willing to slide into the worst kind of revisionism.
A phenomenon as complex as the emergence of National Socialism obviously can't have a simple causality. I don't think it is reasonable to blame everything on Darwin.
(1)German philosophers were preaching hostility to Jews and Germany's unique destiny long before Darwin.
(2) Darwin didn't preach German superiority, the English didn't succumb to bizarre racial theories. There is something uniquely German here.
(3) Haeckel modified Darwinism and elevated the survival of the fittest to the national level.
Yet, Hitler did appeal openly in Mein Kampf to the survival of the fittest, saying that it is the source and origin of life. The strong survive and the weak die. This Darwinian scenario was part of his thinking.
Incidentally, about Hitler's religion, Lenin and Stalin were overt atheists. Does this show that secularists in our society today are a menace to liberty?
Hitler's religion was a unique mixture of German philosophy and Germanic Christianity that denied much of the bible as Jewish and saw Hitler as an Aryna who died fighting the Jews, but did not rise from the dead, did not die as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, will not return as God to judge the world.
