The creationists are always claiming that it's a telling failure that most Americans believe in special creation despite high schools having taught evolution for decades. But it's closer to the truth that evolution has scarcely been taught at all, at least at the high school level, due to the political pressure from creationists.

Education is the solution, and its what we should be aiming for. In my high school biology class, not even fifty pages of the textbook was devoted to evolution.
If people actually know what the science of evolution is all about, it should earn enough support to keep education policies relating to the topic the way they are. Sadly, this path is identical to that of the IDrs.
