How about a generic science PAC? The only problem I can see with such a PAC is that it'd be hard to set it up in a fashion such that it wouldn't merely become an arm of the democrats.
(Nothing wrong with democrats, but something like this could do without party polarisation)
One way to arrange things would be for the PAC not to endorse candidates as such but rather to make lots of noise whenever candidates were caught using horrible science. Any thoughts?
Incidentally, I still have no idea what PAC stands for...

I'm afraid I object to the locution 'Harvard-trained'; as if a Harvard education instills a certain behavioral response. My younger son went to Harvard, was one of the few (13%)going on into grad school for entry into academics (the rest went into law and business school--he still goes dutch with old girlfriends pulling in up to $3M/year on his own sub-$20K income. What a guy!) He hears the Harvard dog-whistle and doesn't look up.

Well, let me tell you what my Harvard education has gotten me. $75,000 in student loans from film school. Such a deal.

Speaking as an environmental scientist, I would like to make a clarification. We are not trying to save our environment. We are trying to save the lives of our children.

Randy Olson: I would like to see the dodo film. Might it be coming to a theater in Tennessee?
I really appreciate independent films like yours and sympathize with the economics involved. However, I recently visited a web site that was selling DVD copies of independent films to the man on the web street, as it were. I thought $500.00 per DVD was a bit steep. I know it costs a lot to make a film, but does it make sense to sell them at that price to recoup the cost? I think what you are really saying is that making the film cost me $100,000 but only 200 people in the whole world would ever be interested in it. That's kind of pitiful really.

A Science Education PAC might be a good start. The PAC could list pro-science BOE and other candidates in the various states, possibly contribute to candidates, and steer contributors to those deserving financial support.
Another service could be identifying and/or listing those candidates who are being backed by the DI and/or it's affiliates, or have affirmed ID or creationism, as examples of candidates to avoid.
However, given the "Wedge" strategy of the DI, it may be more appropriate to create an anti-Wedge PAC to counteract its effects more directly. Please read the Forrest & Gross book on the Wedge of ID, if you haven't yet, it's an eye-opener.
