It seems the real question regarding Iraq is, do we as a nation do more good (or less evil) by pulling out soon, or by staying and attempting to clean up the mess we made? I'm less sure of the answer than I ever was.
The fact that one of the players in the Iraq theater is al Quaida is irrelevant. So many outside interests have dogs in this fight -- AQ is just another interested party. I wish people would stop letting their chains be pulled by the phrase "al Quaida".

(And I'm not even that worried about return fire, either: If these clowns ~could~ be trusted to hit the broad side of a barn, it'd be the wrong barn.)
I'm not sure I could even identify which factions are AQ friendly, Iran friendly, let alone if that's good or bad for our interests (and it's by no means certain that, say, Iran's interests are always going to be diametrically opposed to ours).
And if I can't figure it out, I'm pretty sure that the clowns in DC can't figure it out.
