Welcome back. You were missed.

Gravatar Can we rule out prayer as a bridge maintenance methodology?

Gravatar Speaking of which, I'm a little surprised that RSR would mention being in the Twin Cities without any reference to the local event that has captivated cable news for the past week or so.

It's one think to avoid any mention of the Twin Cities at all, but to only mention the fact that it was hot seems a bit, well, surprising.

Personally, I think the real story of the bridge collapse is that so much of it remained intact and so few people died.

That and, of course, the many people who credited their survival to a miracle and "God's choice" without once thinking that meant "God" similarly selected those who died. And maybe caused the collapse of the bridge too!

Gravatar The 35W Bridge collapse hit too close to home for RSR to comment on. My wife and I have too many friends and relatives in the Twin Cities not to have worried that some of them might have been on the bridge when it went down. My wife's brother works with a woman who had two children and a grandchild on the school bus. Two of the kids spent a couple of days in the hospital recovering.

A little more time will have to pass before we can say anything about it.

Gravatar Have they declared "the surge" to be Bin Ladan's, ah, Ladun's, um, Latin's - the heck with it! - "Waterloo" yet?
