What are we to make of the fact that McCain manages to keep a straight face throughout that self-abasing (and admittedly hilarious) ordeal, when regular SNL viewers will know that even hardened veteran cast members often break up mid-skit?

I wonder if McCain's composure flows from the fairly seamless continuity between the skit's broad buffoonery and the temper of his actual political career.

McCain has been such a shameless media hound throughout his political life that I suspect there’s a significant blurring between “reality” and entertainment to the point where they two are fairly indistinguishable.
