The multiverse would be a helpful device to overcome time-travel paradoxes in speculative fiction.

Just travel to any of the infinite universes that contain one of the infinite changes in course that any event may hold.

I'm not familiar with sci-fi. I suppose it's been done?

I’m not a huge Sci-Fi fan either, but it sounds an awful lot like something that Douglas Adams’ “Infinite Improbability Drive” from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy would be especially good at dealing with, quantum navigation-wise.
