Un-Canadian?
In this age of 'Harper's Canada', it seems apropos.
Lots of glitz, little substance and ultimately humiliating.

Perhaps, but that's not MY Canada. I derive a certain amount of pleasure from our cool restraint and modest circumspection.

I'm resisting slipping into old fartism because I do remember very well what it's like to be young.
But honestly, I thought we were seeing the end of fashion that's just plain hideous and unflattering. Not that buff and healthy athletes care; they'd look OK in paper sacks.
But this line of Gangsta-meets-Captain Canuck costumes is just stupid.

Even though my usual attire these days consists of little more than a black tee, jeans and a charcoal grey hoody, I’ve always been a stodgy old fart when it comes to apparel. My absolute favourite article of clothing is a Chester & Barrie overcoat circa 1964 with the close runners up being a Harris Tweed jacket and an old Daks blazer from the same period. You get the idea… When it comes to taste in clothing, we’re not exactly talking “cutting edge” here — quite the opposite.
Nevertheless, this is just hideously ugly by any standard. The fact that the young people in the piece smirked with amused embarrassment at it only served to confirm that impression.

I'm not sure if that means anything. Smirking seems to be the only evaluation young people are capable of these days. It's an uphill battle I'm engaged in constantly to get people to articulate what exactly they're thinking and moving beyond that sucks!

Ah, well... getting people to properly articulate things is a frustrating challenge indeed, whether they be young or old. In the absence of that, I'll take a smirk at face value, so to speak, and extrapolate from there...

They look like those cheap pyjamas you can buy in places like Bi-Way (made in China stuff that fades and shrinks when washed).
