Your thoughts weigh heavily

Gravatar You are speedy!
I'm like a big slug in comparison; so very, very slow.

Weight loss? Ha! I'm starving on my long run days Mmm, food!

Do your 5. Then do a couple of 10's and then some half marathons. If you do the Disney half you can take the family...

After that I don;t know. I think people who do HM's are nutters remember?!

Gravatar I think three months is good That way you can ease into running slowly and hopefully injury free. This from the IT Band and hip bursitis queen. Awesome!

Gravatar after just watching the boston marathon and running the last 6 miles of it with my friend...i have to say...it is THE marathon to run. it is truly a one of a kind amazing experience! i can't wait to get a few marathons under my belt and then run boston someday! it will have to be with a charity because qualifing for boston....shwooo that's downright impossible.

also... lbs in 2 DAYS is more like it...chicken. =)

Gravatar JaG - I love food, too. I just need to eat less of better stuff.

TWG - Ease into accomplishing my goal in 3 months? If I'm going to do it in 3, I'm going to have to bust my ass. Fine enabler you are!

IAT - So how was Heatbreak Hill? Is it really that brutal? And the key to qualifying for Boston is getting older. Next year I get 5 more minutes than this year.

Gravatar HH wasn't that bad at all. to be honest, i think it's only bad for people who don't hold back on the downhills. of course i say this all having not just run the rest of it already. lol...it does suck that the majority of the course is also banked...so you can get some pretty bad cramps.

5 extra minutes is one thing but unfortunately, i'm a happy 9 mm pace kind of girl when it comes to that kind of distance. 5 and 10 ks are different and i can get my pace down to about 8 but i'd never be able to qualify for boston.

i'm thinking of doing vegas this year though...we'll see...i'd like to find one sooner but i'm not sure how i feel about san fran...as a city...not a course. =)

Gravatar Oh, I remember something else...

For speed training (Fartleks).
Do some telephone pole training. You run at your normal pace between 2 or 3 poles and then run your fastest between 1 or two then do the normal again and repeat.

Gravatar Isn't a 5k like three miles? You should be fine for three months. I trained for two for a 5 miler and did it in 50, even after pushing a vet in a wheelchair for a mile. You'll kick ass

Gravatar Doing 3 miles is no problem. Doing it at a sub 7:20 per mile pace is going to be the challenge.

Gravatar I ran cross country in high school-- lived in Germany at the time, got lost in the woods and had to hitch a ride back to post from a German guy on a motorcycle, much more to that story, but this is neither the time or place for it.

For that time give yourself a year. 3-5 miles three times a week and sprints one day a week. No beer. Send me your beer.

Gravatar I keep forgetting how young you are. Yes, go beat his time! Train, run, go! Heck, I'll sponsor you in your 5K! let's get you a daisywhitney.com tee-shirt and have you beat Greeny in that!
