Good close more, clerks were informed over two years ago that this would be happening, it saves big money so do it, who really cares what postmark is used as long as it's cancelled.

It seems that every week now you read of a new plant consolidation. Alot of unemployed Postal Workers with no jobs to transfer to. Potter is on a roll.

Most people are used to dropping off their outgoing mail at the end of their work day--not earlier. If they continue to do that, mail delivery times will increase by one day. Letter carriers who bring in their outgoing mail after the earlier cut-off times will have their mail delayed by one day, also.
To continue getting presorted discounts, mail from state agencies and other large mailers would have to stay overnight. Consolidated Mail Services, which handles 250,000 pieces of mail a day, says it can't process it all before an earlier cut-off time. State agencies in Olympia service the entire state--not just 985, so the service impact is felt statewide.
Big deal! No Olympia postmark-- a real national problem. So, the consolidating mail house has to move closer to the plant and people MAY need to mail a few moments earlier. Maybe they can pay a currier to get it directly to the consolidator and/or plant. Shut the damn thing down already! What a waste of resources it has been for years.

Close all inefficient, money losing operations down. Here is the private sector yard stick: Does the income it generates exceed the expenses required to operate? If not the obvious conclusion is that it is a losing liability that does not deserve to remain open for community sentiment only. If it doesn't make money it is gone in the free enterprises system. The Post Office needs to CLOSE ALL level 20 & below offices that don't meet the profit criteria. How can USPS continue to pay 1 man office postmasters $60k/yr when they only sell about two dozen stamps each day? USPS loses about $250K/yr on these one man Post Offices in Podunkville, USA. STOP THE BLEEDING! SHUT 'EM DOWN IF THEY ARE LOSING MONEY!!!!!!
