Congress will now be addressing the structual, legal and financial constraints of the Postal Service. What this means folks is the door will now be opened for congress to privatize the Postal Service. They will want a piece of the pie to line their pockets. Congress already thinks we make to much money and they will do whatever is necessary to reduce our salary and benefits. Watch out and see what happens next contract. You will see evaluated routes shortly. More jobs will be contracted out. Mark my words. Just think, our unions support this. They are selling us out. The Postal Service as we know it will soon be overhauled.

I must admit, I am a little worried as to where this all leads. I agree with the idea Postal reform, the PO needs to do something to stay alive in the 21st century. But my idea of reform would be to get the Government's hands out of our business! As far as the President's VETO power, he can VETO a bill, but the Constitution allows for Congress to vote to overturn a Presidential VETO. As long as enough of Congress says 'yes', the bill could still be signed into law. This is a safe-guard from giving a President absolute power (which Bush seems to think he has).
One thing to note, as mentioned in a previous post, there is such a monster as Governmental red-tape. So nothing will happen quickly. And gettind both sides of Congress to agree mutually to anything is next ot impossible. Let's be real, for all the bitching everyone does in these posts, we have to admit that we have a cake job with great pay and little actual work (as compared to the same or similar jobs in the private sector) and good benefits. But once those moronic bureaucrates in DC get their hands on the PO, its hard to tell what will happen! I will be anxiously watching to see where this goes...

i have good pay and benefits. i work hard and must endure psychotic abuse from mis-mgrs. the layoff protection benefit is paramount in my area with a very difficult job market.
the usps must be flexible and change with the service demands. however, they only seem to accommodate the bulk mailers and not their customers. will it ever change?

After Lincoln's election in 1860 came a round of seccessions, and it was the traitors who first fired on the Repbublic, at Ft. Sumter.
