Somebody has to be guarding the gates since Postal Police no longer are there for our protection. I guess we all have to go back to guarding our backs again!
I went to the postal inspectors a few years ago because a co-worker threatened to kill me. They told me if I had any problems at work with him,to just dial 9-1-1;that is not their job! So,don't depend on them.
Hopefully Postal Inspectors will be a thing of the past in the next few months.The OIG needs to do the job,and send these useless rent a pigs back to K-Mart.

First off my thoughs and prayer go out to the victim's family and friends. Has anyone else noticed that all the victims happen to be people of color and that while residing in NM, Ms Sanmarco applied for a business license to publish a newspaper called, "The Racist"? I hope this all is just a coincidence, but if not, somebody better be looking into this.

I have pressure on me to to get the numbers-from the bosses on top and the workers on the bottom-I am caught in the middle.
Maybe some people can't deal with this setup, they should go work in a more "happy" work environment like a Disney Park or a church related hospital etc.

since I have worked at the post office (21 years) there have been 5 or 6 suicides that come to mind in our facitlity. I wonder if that is a high number for a company to have.. I attribute all of them except one on the post office.

Hey local1945Parlimentarian, of course we have no lives. We are at the post office all the time. Evenings, weekends and holidays. Can't count on a day off, day before we're told to work it. Have to schedule vacation way before we have time to think about what we want to do. Only think about the post office??? Have little time away to think about anything else. If wishes were kisses... You all are missing the motive in this shooting. The killer had a friend who needed to get more OT, so she just eliminated some workers on the floor to get her friend more OT.
Management tried to get me removed, I just called my Union and they filed a grievance that I was bipolar and had a disability therefore under the American Disabilities Act and Reasonable Accomodation they had to let me go back to work,

Seems that the management is trying to not even acknowledge that this has happened. We have not had a stand up talk or anything to address this or any concerns that may result from it. At least that how the management team at the Roanoke P&DC is handling it.
To find someone NOT of color would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Maybe there is a connection between that and the reason the PO is going under. Great hiring practices!

I work in the same city as the shooting. Management is telling us NOT to talk to the press because they're afraid we'll tell the truth about how we're treated here. All the ones killed were quiet, mild, humble people. Also all were minorities and all women except 1 man. It's so sad. After she shot former neighbor there were several who claimed they heard gunshots but none bothered to call police which could have prevented this all. Some supervisors here are young gang members who treat employees like members of rival gangs. It's a sick enviroment. No one but local press mentioned shooters sexual relationship with a racist supervisor who recently died. Many supervisors here cheat on their spouses with each other and take meth on the job. They've also gambled at the local Indian casino while supposingly doing carrier check ups. It's unbelievable here!!!! SO SAD, SO SAD.
One time management instructed us,at a stand-up, not to talk to the press during a disaster drill. I asked if they had somehow repealed the Bill of Rights. I didn't plan to talk to them anyway. Nevertheless! I resented their stance.

The reason the PO doesn't want you to talk to the press should be quite obvious. You are not a spokesperson for the US Postal Service. As with any emergency sitaution or crime scene, it is urged that you not talk to the press because it may still be under investigation and until that investigation is complete; you should be instructed not to talk to the press. Once the investigation or disaster/emergency has been cleared, then it would be through a spokesperson and not a third-party(such as an employee) that the press should get the information from.
In the case of the USPS, about 50% of it should be believed or taken to heart; while the rest of it is BS.

I heard a rumor today that is spreading around the Van Nuys District. Supposedly, the shooter was here that day and had a hearing that morning concerning her disability retirement. She lost her case and her disability paymnents were stopped.
She was there in the morning and in LA @ 11 am. She must have been able to be in 2 places at once.
you can talk to the press all you want, you can even call your congressman and tell them anything you want about the corrupt.
All you have to do is use a pay phone and tell them you do not want to use your real name as they will try and fire you.(in NY it is called dropping a dime.)
I have done this for over 20 years and not once did the press or congressional personnel ever not once refuse to listen to what I had to say.
Screw the bureaucratic mismanagers
If you have a problem with a postal manager it can be very worthwhile to write to your senator or congressperson. Just the mention of it will get the manager's attention.
Going one or two people over their head and suggesting this method, in writing,while sending copies to all levels in between(so you're not going behind their back, uh-huh) is also effective.
But what the heck, we like everybody.
Until POSTAL EMPLOYES demand that Congress post FEDERAL MARSHALLS at all Postal facilities and use metal detectors these murdering racist savages will continue to kill. Let's have a march on Washington NOW and demand better protection!!!!!!

This place was a little crazy before. Now, it is totally insane! Last night we had 8 Postmasters doing clerk and mailhandler jobs. Postal inspector police roam the building, looking for someone to harass. It's run more like a prison than a normal facility. My guess is Jennifer Sanmarco was either a paid gov't informant or a CIA hired gun, since her past prior to 8 years is untraceable. There were lots of rumours about closing our facility in the last 10 years, now employees are being told not to bother coming back.
Reading all of this stuff can be almost as stressful as a tour of duty at the P.O. After these readings I need to unwind so I go to POGO,com . God bless the victoms.

Hey Goleta same thing happened at VanNuys. cars and other things were getting broken into. A couple of guys one night even hopped the fence and took out a brand new tractor trailer for a joy rid after running through the locked gate in VMF and nothing was done. Until one night two clerks were stabbed in the parking lot. Then it was checking bags and the whole nine yards. Guess who was the plant mngr. Yea Big Al.
The PMG wants this to be a postal thing? Right. He has no answers for the press except what would embaress him and all others in mgnt.
The PO won't be gone because of forces from outside without its own sickness from the inside.
Has the Postal Service done everything to improve security for all facilities as required by the Transformation Plan? Did the Chief Inspector designate a Victim and Witness Crime coordinator for the District? Did management have a Threat Assement Team in Place? Did the facillity meet all the requirements in RE-5 Building and Site Security requirements? Were is the improved security that the Postal Service's Report to Congress says was done by the Service? How can the Service say that security has been improved with the removal of the Postal Police?
I'm not a PO employee. But I did lose a dear friend in this shooting. And I will say that the lives of her son and daughter have been changed in many ways. I have been changed in many ways. I had known Lupe for 25 years. She was like a second mother to me growing up. She was a happy person. She always made a bad day look brighter. She will always be missed and always be loved
