Gravatar LOLing at Jilla's "pop a pop a pop a pop" verse. Too cute! And I found myself trying to help Claire out, too. I wanted to sing along with her! They are both so fun, funny and cute. Thanks for sharing.

Gravatar What cuties! And their movie performance really shows how much they're growing - holy crap! Time flies...

Gravatar You can take a picture of Aurora off of a website or out of a coloring book if you have one, trace it out on top of a plain frosted cake and then fill in with the appropriate color frosting using a star tip. OR there is a Wilton(?) cake pan that makes a dome-shaped cake that becomes a doll's skirt and there's a top half of a doll that comes with the pan. You stick the doll top into the dome-shaped cake and decorate the cake to be her skirt. You could make her look like Aurora. Just a couple of suggestions -- I've done both. I've done the first method to make Clifford the Big Red Dog, It's a Bug's Life, Cookie Monster, Little Einsteins, and lots of others. I've done the second method as a Barbie cake.
Good luck!

Gravatar I forgot to say that in the first method, I use sheet cakes. You can enlarge or shrink the picture to any size you need on a copy machine.

Gravatar Hi Renee,

Your girls are so sweet and entertaining!! It'll be exciting to add another someone to the mix.

Anyway....since my baby is 17 now I thought I would google Aurora since I'm kinda out of the loop when it comes to Disney characters. Anyway, I found a couple of pages where you might get some ideas for Claire's party. The first one has invitations, little games, etc. The second has the cutest little crowns that you could use instead of party hats. I know whatever you do the party will be a success. Wish I was closer so I could help out :-(

Gravatar Ditto Sue's idea but for a sheet cake I LOVE chocolate transfers and truly with those you don't even have to be able to draw- just trace.

Wilton makes the candy melts in tons of colors. What I do is take the image I want and reverse it (if it matters) and tape to a piece of plexiglass (you can also use a cutting board- you want something sturdy that will fit in your fridge). One top of this tap a piece of waxed paper. You have to work in reverse as the side facing the paper is what you will see when you flip it over. Anyways, do outlines, chill, one color, chill, etc. This is the part where the plexiglass really does help as you can see if there are any bubbles and look at the correct side to see if there are issues. I've done this for the big boy's Pokemon cake, a retirement cake, and a baby shower. I'll see if I can find some pics to share with you...

You can do the same with icing and then freeze the "plaque" to remove from waxed paper. I haven't done it this way though.

Gravatar OK, I am limited by what is on my work computer, so my favorite example (a Chick-Fil-A Cow) is not on this computer.

On here the Turtwig and pokeballs are choc transfers. (Ignore the uneven piping, it slipped- and it looks odd from this view- top is a pokeball.)

Bear in sling is one transfer. Stars are all separate transfers. This one shows a bit of blooming which detracts a bit from the over all but it was less apparent in person. Just make sure to not over heat the choc and stick in fridge just to set between colors.

Have fun! I love to make cakes.

Gravatar heheeee that was awesome - lol I love all the little kid versions of up above the world so high =)
