That stocking is great! My grandma cross stitched my childhood stocking and I treasure it, you are truely making heirlooms for them. Bonus points for self designing them.

The reason I loved knitting Christmas stockings for my kids is that, unlike socks, you only need to make one of a kind, so Second Sock Syndrome never has a chance to bite

Please do write the pattern! I decided to knit some stockings for my family also and have finished 2, started on a third. This is one of the prettiest ones i've seen on the internet.
