Gravatar Yes, I do get other ideas while writing. However, I find it impossible to work on several stories at the same time.

Gravatar I used to. I finally just had to keep files and notes on those ideas and get back to them when I'd finished what I'd been working on. Time helps the real potential shine through. :D

Gravatar This happens to me all the time, Rene. It's a great feeling but i write down the ideas and carry on with the wip I'm working on. And I hate writing the slow bits! Grrhhh.

Gravatar Totally!! That's why I have a fat folder labelled "Future Story Ideas". Yeah, most of them will never pan out, but at least I feel better writing them down so I can concentrate on the story at hand

Good luck with your current ms!!

Gravatar I can sometimes get distracted, but I'll usually stop and jot out the bones of the idea just to get it down so I don't forget it, then once I do that I can get back to work.

Gravatar I love the images you put in this post - great stuff.

For awhile, my ideas were duds - didn't go anywhere or do anything. Lately, though, I've had a lot more ideas that are worthy of my attention.

Gravatar By necessity, I often juggle multiple ideas in my head. But I usually need a couple of hours to spend, alone, with a given thread. Otherwise, my brain can't wrap itself as tightly around the topic or the characters as it needs to.

Some days, I don't even write 'em out. I just sit quietly and let my head work it all out. Then, the next day, I let the words flow out of my fingers.

I know, I'm bizarre.

Gravatar Just last night I was critiquing one of my friend's pieces in our writing group and I had a brilliant (or at least I thought so!) for several more books that she could write...after the four in the series she's already working on.

I tend to think of it as the creative wheel moving forward. It's always easier to manage many ideas than not enough, right?

Gravatar I love this!
Yes, I have far too many sparklers going off. With the kids home for the summer, I have less time to write and many more explosive ideas!
(When they're out of their school routine, it's harder for me to sit down and focus, too!)
I need to get them to Drop Everything and READ--so I can write!!! (You are absolutely right. I have all of these great ideas because I don't want to sit down and finish the one that is almost done!)
