I think we forget the same reasons in Canada, though our fight for freedom and independence was not as bloody and dangerous as yours. We didn't get ours until the more civilized time of 1867, even then it wasn't a complete severance.

Great post and so true. We complain about our country a lot and it's not perfect but it's truly wonderful to live here and be free.
