Wow. This was amazing, Rene. I can completely relate to it. I think I am so bogged down in, "Will the editors/agents like it?" that I'm forgetting about if -I- will like it.

Oh, your best post yet, Rene. Loved all the quotes, especially Cryil's. I think I lost the joy when I became competitive, forcing myself to submit to certain markets, trying to anticipate what the next new 'thing' would be, losing my 'self'. I'm back on track now, I think.

Beautiful post--and a good reminder. The most important thing is whether the writer likes what they've written or not. And it is a wonderful feeling to spin marble out of nothing more than air. :D

Great post, Rene. I totally agree with Melinda Haynes, even though her advice goes against a lot of what you run into at conferences and meetings where it is all about "career".

Great post, Rene - thanks for sharing your writing journey It contains some great lessons in wisdom for all of us - most notably, be true to yourself.
I remember telling myself stories in bed at night before falling asleep. Pretty much every night. And sharing one of my mss with my class-mates in high school. Writers really are born that way!

Yep, awesome, indeed.
I still believe I'm good enough for the major publishers. But to keep my own passion alive, well, you know about the hard choices I made. I don't regret it for a second, either.
Keep being inspired by your kids.
