Bahrain, Egypt and Lebanon are just some of countries that see no problems with Valentine's Day. Not to mention people in the UK and USA.
Not denying some Muslims ARE crazy. They are. But I don't associate myself with them. So I don't see why I should be placed in a room of crazy people just because some of us are insane.
Equivalent: some of the KKK are Christian. The KKK are racist. Therefore , all Christians are racist.
I am sure you will agree that this illogical beyond belief.

evolution,
Thanks for commenting. I don't have issue with peaceful Muslims. If you're not out there burning things and rioting, I don't associate you with them. I do, however, worry about how your religion commands you to convert or kill me.
I never even gave the religion much thought until 19 Islamic extremists decided to murder nearly 3,000 of my countrymen in a single day. And ever since then, their jihadi brethren keep pushing for worldwide dominance. Kinda makes one notice the large number of crazies out there who take seriously Muhammad's command to subdue all non-Muslims. My philosophy tends to be more live-and-let-live. When others want to force their way on me upon pain of death, I have an issue with that.
The constant demonstrations and ridiculous behavior are being driven by Mullahs preaching intolerant sharia law. Sharia adherents consider themselves Islamic purists. Are you telling me they're all incorrect in their interpretation of the Qur'an?
I can see what you're saying about the KKK, but the sheer volume of jihad crazies isn't even comparable. There is no Christian equivalent. Nor are there entire nations filled with millions that follow the KKK's hateful rhetoric.
Islam can't say the same. It's a widespread problem. And unfortunately, it comes straight from the Qur'an. Hopefully, there will be more sensible individuals who can seize control of the Islamic religion from those who seek to subjugate the rest of the world.

I am glad to see that you don't hate all muslims. I too believe in live and let live.
I will just go through each of your points for clarification.
"I do, however, worry about how your religion commands you to convert or kill me."
No, it does not. I can see from your reading list which version of history you are reading, and of course you don't have to believe me, but: the Quran says: "There is no Compulsion in religion."
It also says: "To you be your Way, and to me mine."
As I said, you don't have to believe me, but i think that if you want a balanced view of Islam, I would urge you to check out some of the more reformist scholars, if you want.
2. I too have an issue with religion as a force. I say, religion is personal and about your own spiritual journey. When America went to war, some Americans said "Not in my name." Well, I say to the 9/11 bombers: Not in my name. I honestly have no idea why they choose to do what they did, especially as Islam forbids the killing of innocents. Perhaps they had some political motive, but in any case, they justified committing an atrocious act to themselves by convincing themselves that they were in some religious experience. Simply put, they were brainwashed.
3. "Are you telling me they're all incorrect in their interpretation of the Qur'an?"
That is exactly what I am telling you. My argument is (again, make of it what you will), either Islam is a religion of peace or it is not. If it is, then the mullahs MUST be wrong. Of course, you could subscribe to the opposite, but remember Machiavellian philosophy. Those who wish to acquire power will use any means to do so. Pretending that something is right because an absolute creator said it is right, is a powerful tool to manipulate the people. For me, the mullahs are simply using and abusing power, like any other Machiavellian leader in history.
4. Finally: "
Islam can't say the same. It's a widespread problem."
Is it? Or is this a fallacy? Firstly, the crazies have a louder voice, and i do believe moderate Muslims must raise their voices to condemn the extremists. That is one of the reasons why I have started a blog. Feel free to check it out.
However, the media also wants to perpetuate the myth of the Samuel Huntingdon model of the clash of civilisations. That is why they show insane people on TV, ask opinions of crazy mullahs and don't give peaceful muslims a voice. I can name many moderates, but they are not given a voice.
I don't apologise for the loonies, but take into consideration someone like Tariq Ramadan, a reformist muslim who believes in adapting the interpretation to form a more European/ American version of Islam. unfortunately, propaganda is spread about him to prevent him from voicing his opinions: he was banned from entering the US, and discredited with lies claiming that he supports terrorism and has links with the Muslim brotherhood - all of which are lies. Why does the media

Easy RV, it's the first time in a great long while that someone with a dissenting view tried to post. Give Evolution a chance to keep the ball rolling.
The pictures did it tho, powerful images. Much more interesting than politics. It's great how the images sway people to act/post.
I don't think I could have your profession. I'd get numb to it all after awhile. It's just a hook after all, isn't it, to make people play to a certain tune?
I know it's your blog, but do you ever think that YOU are being played?
