Gravatar A simple question: If two candidates win the necesaries 2.025 delegates to the democrate convention, the superdelegates can do wathever they want in this convention. Are there any roules about it? or only influencies. An Obama/Hillary delegate can change his/her vote in the convention if he/she wants?. thank you.

Gravatar Hi Urbinaga,

Good question. Pledged delegates CAN change their vote, but they're not supposed to. According to the DNC:
"Under the Democratic Party’s Rules, pledged delegates are not legally 'bound' or required to vote according to their presidential preference on the first ballot at the Convention. Rather, these delegates are pledged 'in all good conscience [to] reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.'

Superdelegates, however, are another matter entirely. They are the party's unelected royalty, handpicked by the DNC chairman.

The way the Dems have it set up, the delegates are supposed to vote according to the preferences expressed by the electorate they represent. The Superdelegates, however, can do whatever the hell they want, voters be damned. Each of their votes basically trumps the will of several thousand (supposedly around 10,000) Democrat voters. And Superdelegates control nearly 20% of all the seats at the Democrat convention.

Therein lies the ultimate irony of the Democrat party: their elites get to decide what's best for everyone else. More "rules for thee but not for me" hypocrisy.

Shockeroo.
