Gravatar Home Owner's Associations are little more than fascist microcosms. I'm totally opposed to them - little dictatorships where a belligerent minority make everybody's lives hell. I think that poor marine has more to blame the HOA for than America itself.

As for the hospital - personally, I'd have no problem with somebody hanging a US flag up for memorial day - but it IS kind of inappropriate for a member of staff to start hanging politically motivated things up in a place of business (when it's not her own.)

In the UK, the nationalists and fascists have used the Union Flag for so many years that it IS considered a 'racist' symbol. Thank God America is more sensible than that (I got my baby's picture taken with 'Old Glory' as the backdrop - you wouldn't be allowed to do that in the UK.)

But I don't think it's as easy to defend a member of staff randomly deciding to hang stuff up in somebody else's business. She should have asked for permission first.

Gravatar If the mere sight of an American flag disgusts this African, she's overstayed her welcome and needs to go back from whence she came.

EXACTLY!!!

Only when we speak out against the "change" being foisted upon our nation will we be able to keep the liberty so many Americans fought and died to protect.

Sadly, way too many people are completely apathetic about what's happening to our country. By the time they get angry enough to stand up, I'm afraid it's going to be too late.

Gravatar Roland, the American flag is not a "political" tool...it's a symbol of our freedom. There used to be a time when most businesses proudly displayed Old Glory.

I agree with RV...anyone who is offended by our flag has overstayed their welcome here!

Gravatar Does the identity or "fabric" of a war hero depends on his bumper stickers?
Are you suggesting that symbols transcend the rule of law?
I think it is an easy shot, because symbols and images can arouse such intense emotion. It sells papers, makes people tune in, and makes marketing people happy. Appealing to the lowest common denominator (anger, fear, hope) has always been used by those who want to increase their power by controlling the masses. MyFox-Dallas does not care what you think, only that you were moved to read/watch and spread on this story to me.
Did you want to give MyFox that power?

Gravatar Are you suggesting that symbols transcend the rule of law?

There is no "rule of law" that dictates what symbols a person can display on their personal automobile.

It's called FREEDOM....

Gravatar I agree with Kanaka girl about personal automobiles - but I think it's a different kettle of fish when you hang up a flag in somebody else's business.

I think I'd get in trouble if I hung Old Glory up on the wall in my office.
