Gravatar Rezwan,

Mr Hassan Ariff's comments are typically what you hear from autocratic governments. China would say the same.

There's no such restrictions. People in free countries can make any comments they like, even take part in political campaigns, regardless of their visa status. Of course, they can't stand for election or vote in most instances.

Mr Hassan Ariff's justifications are untenable. Seriously---just look at the number of Bangladeshi bloggers based abroad and making comments about local and global politics.

As for foreign diplomats interfering in the internal affairs of a country: it's very common. If the countries which they represent are powerful, their diplomats will have influence.

I think this is all a red herring.
