Que pasa?!?

Regarding your weight, Muscle weighs MORE THAN FAT. So, you are gaining muscle, which will eventually lead to better weight loss, because muscle burns more calories than fat.

Gravatar Oh, I know. Muscle weights somewhere in the region of 2 to 3 times the amount of fat, but takes up 3 to 4 times less space. I'm not really sweating the weight, I'm just really confused by what my home scale says, versus the gym and the fact the gym fluctuates wildly imo.

I'm not stressing clothes sizes (though I'd like to keep some boobies ... Before I buy bigger ones). I'm more interested in what's looking back at me in the mirror. That's the greatest "test" imo.

For my height a "healthy" weight range is 144 to 178 lbs. There is NO way in hell I EVER want to get back to 144lbs. I weighted that when we got married, and while I didn't look like skin and bones, 160-170lbs looks much healthier on me. I was at 168lbs in England between the second and third heathens. That's what I'm shooting to get back to - and not so much the lbs, but the slender, sleeker muscle look.

I also know muscle tissue burns more calories than fat, though I can't seem to track down the difference between the burned calories. So far, I'm using the minimum caloric burn estimate for activities - conservative estimate and burn more than I think is better than thinking I'm burning more than I really am.

I'm trying to be as realistic as possible. It didn't take overnight, or 3 weeks to put on this weight, it's not going come back off that fast either.

Gravatar I know you dont know me, but I googled aviano AB gym and this is what popped up. We are pcsing there at the beginning of the year, and I was wondering if the gyms on base have childcare. My husband and i would like to work out together, or else we would never see each other in the evening taking turns. I know some bases have cardio rooms you can stick the kids on while you do cardio but what about weights, anything like that with the weight room?

Gravatar Running is THE most important of all the physical fitness measurements. In the Army we do 2 miles - I'm a 40 year old, 5'8" 195 male and can manage it in about 14 minutes....and that's after 4 knee surgeries.

Why is it so important? Well, it measures overall muscular strength and endurance. If you can run well and your body efficiently processes oxygen, you will function better mentally and physically and be better able to perform vital missions longer and more effectively.

That is why nearly all military officers are required to be good runners. It is fitness, personal discipline, and toughness.

Sometimes you've just go to gut it out. The AF is not trying to screw anyone by making them take a fitness test, it's just regulations. You seem to be big on regulations.

Anyway, that's not your problem, it's your husband's problem.

Keep up the hardwork at the gym.
