Read, "Sarah Palin Is Running A Marathon" over at Hugh Hewitt's website for your antidepressant needs.

I don't share Steyn's doom and gloom over Palin's departure. I find much to admire about Palin. But she has a lot on her plate. Her son, for one, deserves a huge chunk of her attention, and even if the media were kind to her, even the normal pressures of high political office might be a bit over-whelming given her circumstances.

Indeed, the normalcy that we prize in a genuine leader may have provided exactly the reasoning behind Palin's decision. She believes in God, and perhaps she realized that her children need to be the focus of her life right now. If so, she made a very wise choice -- certainly one that people like Maureen Dowd will never, ever understand. Ever.
