holy crap, that's a fantastic idea.

plus, I will work for only 1/3rd the salary!

That is really a paradigm-busting idea. Put together a little press release, get some photogenic people from both sides of the aisle, call the press and DO IT! I'd think you'd need at least 20 people so it isn't just passed off as some 'lone nut.' I'd also think it would make sense to have a few LEGAL immigrants because, from what I've seen, they bring a lot of passion to this issue.

Can we find anyone in the DC area who is up to the task?

DO IT!

Mark

Great idea! (I can't help wondering how moonbats would respond to this. It's unfathomable that anyone could defend Congress anymore.)

Great blog - thanks to Glenn for leading us here.

Hey, we could also demand that bills and Congressional records be posted in English as well as Bureaucrateese. Plus mandatory sensativity training for every senator involved in televised hearings.

Do we get to use the Capitol Police as punching bags, too? I'm not going unless we get all the perks with none of the taxes, like real illegal aliens!

I like it.

Among the jobs would have to be cutting budgets and canceling pork projects.

After all, it's clear congressmen aren't willing to do that job.

I think that Cynthia McKinney tried to get through security as an "undocumented" congressman (she wasn't wearing her ID). Now look at all the trouble she is in.

Yes, but it would only work if the undocumented people were angry.Black.Women. (in that order).

I,m There!!!! Count me in! I live in No.VA, What a great plan. I've got a nice suit an a clean police record. Let's make a date!
Cordially, The real Lawrence of Suburbia.

I'd love to lead this parade, but I live in California, so I'll have to leave it to you "other coasters" to lead the way.

How about some undocumented congressional interns? Sounds like a wonderful chance to get to know some hot American protest babes!

Great idea, I would love to se it done. Unfortunately, I am in California also and won't be able to make it.

< a href="http://futurist.typepad.com/my_weblog/2006/02/what_is_the_rea.html">Here is an interesting article on the real reasons neither party watns to stop illegal immigration. The reason may surprise you.

Brilliant idea! I'd come all the way from NYC for this.

I'm a left coaster too and can't afford (I'm starting a business) to fly out. But it is a great idea.

We also need a longer-duration protest of some sort. I have asked my Senators (Feinstein and Boxer) to show their dedication to American principles and their gratitude to legal immigrants by simply reading Theodore Roosevelt's words from the 1931 Federal Textbook on Citizenship Training in front of Congress, and/or on TV, and to put his words on the front page of their website:

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag[...] We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one soul [sic] loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Truly great statement on immigration especially in light of all the protests we're seeing. Now, will the Senators do what I requested?

Not a chance. We know that.

Those words are too true, too American, and not PC. All the more reason we must keep shoving them in their faces.

Further, if these words were put on the front page of blogs everywhere and kept there until our sovereignty is assured by our government, the message would be highly visible and nearly unavoidable.

If enough Americans did this Congress and the President would have to take notice.

Dumb idea maybe, but words have power, especially words that constitute the truth. And after being read their mere presence is a powerful symbol.

If someone has a better statement, or a better idea, please post.

Hey, count me in. I can be there.

Can I bring my own interns?
