Well, Rick, thanks for asking earlier the trip out West.
It was great and everything looks great as well.
Spent 2 days in SF (walked up the hill to Coit Tower, but took the bus back down to the piers)
A very pretty city. Golden Gate Park is beautiful.
Stopped by Washington Square, Kezar Stadium and drove past Sir Francis Drake exit (my nods to Dirty Harry).
Spent a few days in northern Sonoma county.
Went up to Redding, Mt Lassen and near Mt. Shasta.
Then over to the Avenue of the Giants.
The redwoods have to be seen in person.
Then we concluding the trip by heading over to the coast and driving down Rt 1 most of the way back to SF.
(From Rt 101 to the coast, the temperature dropped 30 degrees)
Walked down to a few coves along the way. Too bad the water was cold.
(55 or so. It's around 70 or so in the Med Atlantic beaches.)
Stopped to overlook the Golden Gate Bridge.
Then flew back east.
As a relative told me, "see why I live out here."
Yes I can.
A very beautiful state.
The only drawback was the lack of green. I guess it's so dry that the grass dries up.
I do hope to come out again.

Sounds like a great trip. My daughter goes to school in Sonoma County, so I'm pretty familiar with much of that area. You ought to come out in the Spring sometime when everything is nice and green. It's pretty spectacular.
The water off the California coast is always cold thanks to the Alaska current. That's what helps keep our climate so moderate and the humidity much lower. It's natural air conditioning.
Glad you had a good time.
