Wow, RWS- thanks for the solid props!
Glenn Reynolds dropped me a nice email yesterday- here's a direct quote from it:
"Better to win 'em over than to crush 'em."
I guess he agrees with us...

Glad to see you typing words indicating that you have some interest in engaging in intelligent discourse to allow various opinions to be expressed without getting all "snotty".
Hopefully your readers will get the message.

I think he wrote a good article and let's hope he gets some mileage out of it. But, i think it's a bit much to ask to think he's changed much. That's such a completely different wavelength than what he wrote to 2slick that it could be from a different person. He could have taken some real cheap shots in the article (I was looking for it) but my read says he didn't and for that he deserves a chance to be heard.
As for being snotty... RWS, as you've always been real gracious, I think she means your readers. I could have come off snotty. Especially in relation so some posts. My difficulty is that if I wanted to read the litany of creep from the DU i would visit their site and i equate that with dumpster diving (only sometimes do you find anything good and you always get slimed). The toxicity of their message in every way defeats their message and THAT message they do NOT get. I liken it to that quip from an old movie, Kelly's Heroes, "..Negative vibes, man"
I don't think anybody here wants to be "Mr. Sunshine", but if you got a beef about something, better bring some facts or at least be entertaining. Remember children, Snotty is as snotty does.

Tom, I had the same thought when re-reading the e-mail and then reading the article. I mean that is QUITE a change of attitude.
It could be that he actually put his personal views and politics behind and wrote the article like a good journalist is suppose to.
The funny thing is that I really had no idea who John Hockenberry was. I happened to be watching Dateline tonight (which I NEVER watch) and one of the reporters were doing a investigation on internet porn spam. I am interested in who puts out this smut, so I stopped to watch. The journalist answers the phone during the course of the story on Dateline and says, "This is John Hockenberry." My mouth just dropped. Isn't it wierd the day after I write about him I see him on TV? I tried to associate this guy with the guy who wrote that e-mail. Who knows? Maybe he was having a bad day?

I've been wondering something all along. Frustration can make a person do some pretty out of character things. Can a lot of the left's wackiness and utter nastiness be traced to this? It's really hard to believe that there's so many folks out there with so much bile in them. Or maybe it's just some weird subset of the left that's more voluble?
