Gravatar Marry me.

Gravatar K dude, how much do we make?

Gravatar HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gravatar Whereas traditional marriage is never abused for things like, oh, inheritance or immigration rights. Nope, never.

Gravatar Why, yes it is. And that's wrong too.

Gravatar I can imagine what's next. *shudder*

Gravatar Frankly, I'm glad they did it. It's wrong, obviously, but I'm so tired of our legislature as well as other countries who keep adding more and more laws to the books. Our government a long time ago forgot that the Founders wanted LIMITED government.

Gravatar So, goldeneagle, you'll agree with me that the government has no business being involved in marriage and should allow people to form the contracts they see fit?

Gravatar Good Lord, that is exactly what they do now.

Gravatar That's a weird subject. Marriage is recognized by the government. But it's not an official ceremony (that I know of). No two of them seem the same.

So far it seems to be the gov't's position that marriage between man and woman benefits the community.

When they think that a marriage can be beneficial other than that, maybe they'll recognize other marriages.

As far as I understand, you can make any contract with whomever you choose. But, to get somebody else to recognize it seems to be the rub. Why should they?

Gravatar I agree with you andy. Governments should not force companies to accept same sex marriage.

If a company decides that it will not recognize a same sex "marriage" as marriage, then it's the company's business and not an illegal act to be prosecuted.

Gravatar Take the wave and ride it for your own gain. Surely has to be a way to make money from this by brokering "marriages" and the benefits that go along with it.

Gravatar 1. Eliminate tax-free benefits.

2. Stop arresting people who dislike homosexuality and say so.

Gravatar Why is this a problem? If a gay man marries a gay woman for the tax benefits , health care benefits, and other benefits that won't destroy society, but if a gay man marries a gay man, or two straight men marry then society will be destroyed?

I don't love my wife any less as a result of this story, and don't feel my marriage is threatened in any way by these two guys.

I don't see any harm caused by them, other than the fact they will have to pay court filing fees for a divorce, and will be forced to deal with property and debt issues upon divorce, and will be tied together until the end of those legal wranglings.

I can't imagine this stunt makes them any more attractive to the opposite sex either (imagine taking this guy home to meet mom and dad...."well he's married to his roommate, but he's not gay, its just for taxes"..)

I know people who treat marriage with the opposite sex with less respect than these two guys, but it doesn't hurt me one bit.

Gravatar Well, as long as it doesn't affect YOU, that's all that matters, doesn't it?

Such is the way of this world.

Gravatar Who does it affect? Is your marriage threatened by this? Your neighbors? I have a friend from college that is on his 4th marriage, and he's 35. This guy is more of a threat to marriage than the two guys in Canada. Hanging out with this guy too much is a serious threat to my marriage.
