My mind isn't quite made up regarding Kagan - but I would second what you quoted from him above. People who say that our military is worse off, broken, or in any way less than it was prior to 9/11 is just ignorant. The pre-9/11 Army was so focused on safety, political correctness, and other crap. Soldiers went to the range once or twice a year and were basically taught to be afraid of their weapons. Now we do realistic training and there is a real world mission to provide everyone with the necessary focus to train well. Look at our equipment - indistinguishable from the crap that we were carrying pre-9/11, the experience level of our entire force (almost everyone is a combat vet), and the proficiency at the collective level, all the way up to Corps level. Today's Army and Marines are exponentially more lethal than the force that took down the Iraqi military in 3 weeks.

What? You mean the liberals and defeatocrats and left-wingbats DON'T realize that our 231-years of liberty and freedoms ... aren't free? Gee?
That's right... the monkeys and big bangers gave it to them, along with Mother Nature and karma? What have I been thinking RWS.... My bad!

Bush never linked Saddam to 9/11? You have GOT to be kidding! Then tell me why at one point over 60% of Americans believed that. Tell me why 25% (all Republicans no doubt) still do. How naive ARE you people? The whole leadup to this war was based on selling that connection, and they sold it well. They were careful not to use the exact words, because they knew it was a complete fabrication, but they sold that impression loud and clear. It's only revisionists like you, suffering from convenient amnesia, who don't get it.
