Gravatar RWS:

ACORN was also affiliated with "The New Party", a short-lived Socialist party that originated in Chicago, and of which Obama was a member.

ACORN and The NEW Party shared the same national office in Brooklyn, NY,

Gravatar Why was John McCain the headline speaker at Acorn rallies in Miami and New York in 2006? How come you always fail to mention that sparkle?

Gravatar What has that got to do with anything? McCain didn't know about the fraud and his campaign wasn't giving $800,000 to ACORN to get people to register to vote for him and call themselves bi-partisan, after all.

Gravatar If they're as evil as you say, why is McCain giving speeches for their organization. Something doesn't add up

Gravatar Even your friend Michelle Malkin recognizes that McCain has little room to criticize Obama for his ties to Acorn.

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/1...riends-atacorn/

Gravatar So, Drew what are you saying? Is ACORN a legitimate outfit or not? Would you support them? Are you willing to ignore their wrongdoing?

Gravatar And in the interview Obama called this ACORN stuff "a distraction."

Unfreakinbelieable.

Gravatar Drew seems nervous. He should be. This ACORN thing could destroy Obama.

McCain spoke at an IMMIGRATION event partly sponsored by ACORN.

He has NOTHING to do with their voter drives.

Nice try Drew, but you lose big time.

Gravatar DRew,

McCain never gave $800,000 dollars to ACORN to commit fraud on their behalf though. So there is that.

Gravatar I think Michelle's point, and it is a valid one, is that if you lay in bed with dogs, you get fleas.

McCain, as much as I love him, just does too much laying in bed with dogs (Democrats) trying to get them to love him. Not realizing they will never love anyone who doesn't follow their agenda.

Gravatar If a politician is in office long enough he will eventually be in bed with just about any group you can mention, or vote for or against a bill on any particular side of an issue. A speaking engagement is nothing. A politicians JOB is to go talk to people. He tries to convince them to support him. Likewise, Any particular lobbying group will get around to inviting most any elected official to come speak to them. They do this for several rason, First it gives them a chance to convince the politician to suppor their cause, Second, they invite opposing politicians so they can harrangue them, third, partisan groups will invite and give money to opposing politiicians so they can camoflage themselves. "See we're bi-partisan, we invited a Republican! Nevermind that 90% of our support to democrats and the other 10% is just for PR purposes."

Sponsorhips of events are often spread out amongst several groups. This reduces costs for all participants, it also allows radical groups to sneak in their name amongst the more mainstream groups to gain legitimacy.

This issue with McCain is a case in point. Only a fool would believe that McCAin is a supporter of ACORN just because he was in the Senate for decades and happened to speak at an ACORN sponsored event. But that is why he was invited, so that the claim could in fact be made later, and fools would believe it.

Obama's support and fratrinization of ACORN is a whole other animal. Its not just guilt by association, but guilt by being guilty. ACORN is a corrupt, bigoted, taxpayer supported criminal group. Obama is a member, supporter, patron and friend of ACORN. He gets them taxpayer money, he accepts money in return (kickbacks), he advances their legislation, promises them a seat in his administration, and depends on their fraudulant votes to win election.

Gravatar Many long years ago I did the paperwork to enlist. One of the documents was a list of organizations considered subversive by the government. It was two pages and in 10 point type. One that has stayed with me since that summer of 1973 was the Ohio School of Social Sciences. It still puzzles me today, what in the hell is a social science? I was 18 going on 19 and now I am 54 and I still can't get an answer. Hmmmmmmmmm
Maybe the obammymessiah, the saviour of the nation can tell me. Probably not, seeing as he's a socialist(communist) scumbag.

Gravatar Sorry- Off topic, does anyone know where I can watch the last debate online?

Gravatar update: Watched it live, about 4AM here.

It was quite funny watching two polticians neither of who are natural attacking try and argue politely. By the end of the debate I really couldn't tell them apart. As I've said all along, they both seem the best of a bad bunch which is very unusual.

Gravatar what are the rules this time? One plumber one vote?

Gravatar The Truth about ACORN:

Most analysts agree that ACORN is a non-issue after that debate. Plus, ACORN hasn't be perpetrating voter fraud, more like it's members wanted to seem like they were doing more work to get paid more money so they faked some records. According to Factcheck:

"McCain made some dire claims about a liberal group he said was out to steal the election:

McCain: We need to know the full extent of Sen. Obama's relationship with ACORN, who is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.

It's true that the voter registration wing of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now has run into trouble in several states. ACORN employees have been investigated and in some cases indicted for voter registration fraud. Most recently, more than 2,000 registrations in Lake County, Ind., have turned out to be falsified.

But does this constitute "destroying the fabric of democracy"? More like destroying the fabric of work ethic. There's been no evidence that the ACORN employees who submitted fraudulent forms have been paving the way for illegal voting. Rather, they're trying to get paid for doing no work.

Dan Satterberg, the Republican prosecuting attorney in King County, Wash., where the first ACORN case was prosecuted, said:

Satterberg: [A] joint federal and state investigation has determined that this
scheme was not intended to permit illegal voting.

Instead, the defendants cheated their employer. ... It was hardly a sophisticated plan: The defendants simply realized that making up names was easier than actually canvassing the streets looking for unregistered voters.

[It] appears that the employees of ACORN were not performing the work that they were being paid for, and to some extent, ACORN is a victim of employee theft.

The $8-an-hour employees were charged with providing false information on a voter registration, and in one case with making a false statement to a public official. ACORN was fined for showing insufficient oversight, but it was not charged with masterminding any kind of fraud.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the table, Obama wasn't entirely forthcoming about his relationship with ACORN:

Obama: The only involvement I've had with ACORN is, I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs.

He did, but that wasn't his only involvement. He also worked closely with ACORN's Chicago office when he ran a Project Vote registration drive after law school, and Obama did some leadership training for Chicago ACORN. The Woods Fund, where Obama served as a board member, gave grants to ACORN's Chicago branch; both organizations are concerned with disadvantaged populations in that city. And during the primaries of this election, Obama's campaign paid upwards of $800,000 to the ACORN-affili

Gravatar Wow, apologizes for the overlong post. I just figure it's easy to quote them than to expect people to actually go to the website.

here's the last bit of it:

"And during the primaries of this election, Obama's campaign paid upwards of $800,000 to the ACORN-affiliated Campaign Services Inc. for get-out-the-vote efforts (not voter registration). Those services were initially misrepresented on the campaign's Federal Election Commission reports, an error that some find suspicious and others say is par for the course. ACORN's Chicago office and CSI have not been under investigation."

Gravatar Acorn and Ayers are all but dead issues now. Conservatives will bring it up still of course, but I would like to thank McCain for bringing it up last night so Obama could address it directly. My guess is that the "say it to my face" comment was meant to draw McCain into mentioning it, and it worked! Obama continues to close the deal.

Gravatar What did you expect from Daley's Chicago mafia-like political machine?

Anyhow, wanna see corruption?... Daytona Beach has earned the dubious honor of becoming one of the most corrupt cities in the United States. Corruption is so ingrained and so well organized that even the people in charge of prosecuting it are under control of the people benefiting from it.

From the purchase of overpriced land from political cronies, to the sale of the personal residency of a city commissioner to the city by over twice its just value, to the financing of personal hobbies and indulgences of tycoons at taxpayer expense, Daytona Beach has turned into Capone's Chicago.

The end result is a city in despair, high unemployment, low morale, rampant crime, homeless roaming the streets and an overworked police force that can't keep up.
